We are trying to figure out if this is a server issue or not.

I have been dealing with the provider and they are willing to give me a new server, however that will change the IP of the server.

...it also DOES NOT guarantee it will fix the issue....if there is one....

Have you been experiencing ALOT of lag?
Intermittant lag?
No lag?

Let me know to help me make my mind up.

Thanks
Sipp smile132

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it.

Trying a cheat/hack, is like having unprotected sex with unknown people.
You never know what you gonna get and it is kind of risky.

yesterday evening during a certain map i often had lags (think it was on oasis, around 23.45 - 24.15 CET, so about 17.45-18.15 EST)
when speccing some other players, i noticed it for them too (don't know the names anymore)

later in the evening, it became better though

new server?
if it's not sure that it will bring improvement, then it could also mean it brings along a worse conn?
in that case, better leave it as it is

i see lots of people with fluctuating pings
a stable ping would be nice and probably better
but, if a new server is not expected to improve this, then imo the situation as it is now does not represent a big enough problem vs the risk of degeneration with a new ip

If you are getting lagg

try to note the exact time so sipp can eliminate any other causes (we know if we upload a new map etc it can affect the servers)
we are keeping a log of whenever we are working in the background (rcon connections, server monitors, PB connections, stats dumping etc)

if the lag still happens we can turn off some of the background processes - we dont want to turn them off now as seems to have settled and sipp will just blame them smile132

the last 2,5 hours it was bad.. really bad... (between 18.15 to 20.45 cet)

lagometer showing spikes on everything: red, green, yellow... (not continuously, but they come and go, frequently)
jittery motions during gameplay where more present then absent
tonight has got to be the worst ever situation i encountered here with regards to lag...

Yeah, this can be a tough issue to troubleshoot since you need to know where it is lagging. Using a program like Matt's Traceroute (linux) can help as it continuously monitors each hop. Sometimes lag happens due to a players internet connection; other times it happens due to GameServer's connection; still other times it may happen for a few people because of one of the in-between hops which have nothing to do with my or GS's connection.

Though it is fairly easy to blame those rats at GameServers! smile11
